This course focuses on three elements: content knowledge, inquiry and other teaching strategies, and use of multimedia in teaching and learning. Course goals include:

  • identifying the basic needs of living things;
  • exploring how an organism's structures and functions work together to help it survive;
  • understanding the definition of a cell;
  • exploring how a cell's structures and functions help it survive;
  • examining how to use elements of the scientific process in your teaching; and
  • exploring how to use models as you teach life science topics.
